Jean Wilson

Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, L.L. Bean

Jean Wilson is the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at L.L. Bean in Freeport, ME.

Prior to her 20 years at L.L. Bean, Jean worked at UNUM Life Insurance Co. for 11 years where she held a variety of leadership roles in information technology and risk management. She began her career as a computer programmer at Merrill Lynch and Chemical Bank in New York City.
 
Jean is a member of the Executive Team at L.L.Bean, and is responsible for overseeing all of information services, systems and technology, which includes software development, infrastructure and information security.

Jean is also responsible for co-leading a multi-year Business Transformation initiative that re-engineers L.L. Bean’s core processes and replaces the majority of the technology portfolio. In this role, she works across the company to help drive the transformation and realize the expected benefits.
 
Jean currently serves as a trustee for Bates College, and is a member of the Finance, Infrastructure and Advancement Committees. Jean also served as the chairperson for the ConnectME Authority from 2007-2016, an appointment from the Governor of Maine. The mission of the Authority is to increase broadband availability state-wide, in order to achieve economic, educational and tele-medical advancements. As a founding member, Jean has worked with Authority members to define broadband coverage criteria and establish a grant program for projects that increase broadband access and adoption.

Jean is a member of the National Retail Federation CIO Council and a member of the Governing Body for the Boston CIO Executive Summit. She is a member of the Leaders Network of the Olympia Snowe Women’s Leadership Institute. And also serves as a Corporator of Androscoggin Bank.
 
Jean has served as president of the board of trustees for the Cancer Community Center, and has been a member of the Advisory Board for the Bates Dance Festival, and the University of Southern Maine Computer Science Advisory Council.

Jean graduated summa cum laude from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine with a major in mathematics. She went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Statistics at New York University, graduating magna cum laude.
