    Pre-Conference Workshop 1 | Courageous Presence: Building the Skills You Need for the Career You Want

    Have you ever wondered why some executives are “known” for their expertise? Looked to for the tough assignments or discussed for promotions? Why were they able to build that brand for themselves, and how can you do the same? In this provocative, funny and challenging program, Cindy Solomon, CEO and president of the Courageous Leadership Institute, will share why some of us get ahead … and some of us are held back by barriers we may even create ourselves. While executive presence is discussed frequently, Solomon’s research shows that it’s Courageous Presence that allows many of us to more effective and quickly build our internal brands to rise through our organizations.

    What you’ll learn:

    • The types of Courageous Presence and how to cultivate them
    • An action plan to build your Courageous Presence and effectiveness
    • Targeted communication strategies to help you circumvent hierarchy
    • “MicroMentoring” strategies to impact your career both today and tomorrow

    To learn more about Cindy, visit the Courageous Leadership Institute and watch her TEDx talk here!

    Pre-Conference Workshop 2 | A Blueprint for Healthy Leadership

    As an industry leader, you have to deal with countless stressors, from the pressures of business management to the well-being of your employees and other stakeholders. It can be difficult to find time for yourself! However, research shows that successful leaders prioritize personal wellness both at home and at work. After all, if you don’t prioritize your emotional and physical health, you’ll be too depleted and burnt out to take care of your business’s needs. Plus, taking care of yourself is a great way to inspire others throughout the organization to do the same. In this workshop, you’ll hear from a leading health and wellness speaker about how you can maintain your own health and wellness while tending to your leadership duties.

    What you’ll learn:

    • The guiding values for personal wellness
    • How healthy living can improve brain health for better cognitive and executive function, and the positive impact it has on leadership
    • How to improve your health in the short, medium and long term
    • Unique tips and tricks on how teams and executives can implement health into their organizations

    This workshop is limited to first 50 registrants.

  • 9:00 am 12:00 pm
    Pre-Conference Workshop 3 | Corporate Board Readiness Workshop

    The facts are clear: Organizations with women in leadership positions perform better. They surpass others in social responsiveness, sustainability, and financial performance. Recent evidence also indicates that companies with female board members are more successful than those without women, a key concern for organizational competitiveness. But how do you get on a corporate board? And, perhaps more importantly, how do you know if you’re ready? In this interactive workshop, you’ll from a leader in corporate board readiness about how to prepare yourself to make an impact on the modern business environment.

    What you’ll learn:

    • the role and responsibilities of corporate board membership;
    • what board recruiters are looking for in a candidate, and what they will see as your strengths (and weaknesses);
    • how to market yourself as a potential board member and how it’s different from seeking an executive position;
    • how to prepare your board bio, resume and LinkedIn profile;
    • how to negotiate your compensation package if offered the position;
    • and so much more!

    This workshop is limited to first 50 registrants.

    Suzy Batiz on Resiliency, Creativity and Following Your Gut

    “I know at the end of my life I will look back and even think the ‘bad’ times were perfect.” That’s the mantra of entrepreneur Suzy Batiz, founder of Poo~Pourri and Supernatural, and one of America’s richest self-made women. She’s on a journey of liberation. Over the course of her life, Batiz has experienced poverty, sexual and domestic abuse, depression, and two bankruptcies — all of which led to what she calls “the luxury of losing everything.” Realizing that something had to change, Batiz prioritized self-care, let go of the past, and turned an idea into a $500 million empire. In this session, Suzy will share how she found her true purpose, how she keeps negativity at bay, how she leads with radical communication, and more.

    Leading in the "Next Normal"

    The world has experienced widespread disruption over the past year. However, the so-called “next normal” is coming into focus, and it’s clear: There’s no going back. Organizations and individuals have to discover new ways of working and new ways of motivating employees and keeping them engaged. And companies also must speak to their consumers differently, as their needs have changed. So, what does this mean for leaders? How must they change the way they lead to meet the needs of a new workforce as well as a new consumer. This session will discuss the pros and cons of a hybrid work schedule, keeping employees engaged during the Great Resignation, the leadership styles that are currently working — and those that are not — meeting the needs of the new consumers, and more.

    Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: How to Do it Right

    A diverse workforce brings diverse viewpoints and perspectives to companies, which in turn can generate higher revenue, more innovation, better decision making, and better performance. However, diversity in the workplace doesn’t necessarily mean inclusivity in the workplace. Making diversity a priority is important, but so is creating a culture where people from all backgrounds feel included. Inclusivity is the key to maintaining (not just creating) diversity in the workplace. This panel will examine the top ways to support inclusion and diversity in your workplace.
